In mid-May, partners and stakeholders from across academia, healthcare, industry, and the public sector gathered at SINTEF Digital in Oslo for a productive GEMINI XR meeting focused on the future of Extended Reality (XR) research and innovation in Europe.

Representatives from SINTEF Community, SINTEF Digital, NTNU, Høgskolen i Molde, LandeFilm, Sykehuset Innlandet, Oslo University Hospital, and VRINN participated in discussions exploring upcoming XR-related EU funding opportunities, the evolving European XR landscape, and future collaboration and partnership possibilities.

A highlight of the meeting was a presentation by Ellen Lande from LandeFilm – artist, film director, and creator of interactive digital experiences. Ellen showcased the award-winning As the Lilies Bloom VR experience, recipient of the Nordic VR Forum’s 2023 VRINN Award for Best Virtual Production. Participants gained valuable insights into both the creative vision behind the project and the practical aspects of its development process.

The meeting provided an excellent forum for knowledge exchange, networking, and identifying new opportunities for collaboration as the European XR ecosystem continues to grow and mature.
